Endocannabinoid Clinical is a perioperative decision-support reference tool designed for surgeons and anesthesiologists who manage cannabis-using patients in the surgical setting.

The tool was developed by a board-certified general surgeon (DO) with direct clinical experience in medical cannabis. In practice, cannabis use among surgical patients is common and increasing, yet structured perioperative guidance remains scarce. Existing protocols rarely address the specific considerations that arise at the intersection of cannabis use, anesthesia, coagulation, and postoperative pain management.

This reference organizes clinical considerations into three domains that matter most at the bedside: bleeding risk, anesthesia dosing, and postoperative opioid needs. It is intended to support — not replace — clinical judgment, institutional protocols, and direct communication with the anesthesia team.

All clinical content is authored and reviewed by the operator. The tool reflects current understanding of cannabis-related perioperative considerations and will be updated as the evidence base evolves.
